Sanne Terweij
Sanne Terweij is a contemporary artist from Amsterdam, The Netherlands. In her work, Sanne merges craftsmanship with the poetry of oxidation. In her striking wall objects, geometric precision meets organic unpredictability – metals like copper and brass are transformed into living, breathing surfaces.
Through chemical reactions and patina techniques, Sanne creates unique compositions that shift with light and perspective.
Each piece is composed of hundreds of hand-cut elements, shaped by time and process. Oxidation becomes her language – unpredictable yet guided, reflecting a deeper narrative of imperfection, change and beauty found in transformation. The traces of aging, often seen as flaws, become central to her visual identity.
Rooted in creative entrepreneurship within film and hospitality, Sanne has carved a distinct path into the art world. Her bespoke works now reside with collectors, designers, and galleries across the globe. In 2022, she received the Rising Talent Award by Maison et Objet, marking her as an artist to watch.
